Game notes: Coach Bob Walsh’s Black Bears battle the Black Knights in search of their third consecutive win. UMaine hasn’t won three straight since Feb 9-16, 2013. The Black Bears are coming off Sunday’s 81-74 win at Central Connecticut during which they did not have the services of their leading scorer, freshman forward Issac Vann (ankle). His status for the game is questionable. Army outgunned Gardner-Webb 103-98 in OT on Saturday and has averaged 87 ppg on 49 percent floor shooting. UMaine must try to rein in the duo of Plomb and Wilson, who are averaging 41.3 ppg and have combined to shoot 46 percent from the 3-point line. Army has good overall size compared to the Bears’ smaller guards and has been able to utilize good depth. One problem area for UMaine has been free-throw shooting (57 percent).
