BERWICK, Maine — Police say they’ve caught the driver who hit and killed a disabled veteran’s service dog.
Berwick police say 23-year-old Jesse Gosselin of Dover, New Hampshire, panicked after he hit the dog.
Sophia, a 7-year-old German shepherd service dog, died.
Police say Gosselin was driving on a suspended license and took off because he knew he would be in trouble for hitting the dog.
A local American Legion post is raising money to get the vet a new service dog.
