BUXTON, Maine — Authorities are investigating a suspected meth lab, the 53rd of the year, at a Buxton residence, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

The home on Old Thompson Road is located near the Gorham town line, and the alleged lab was discovered Tuesday morning.

Officials from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s lab response team are expected to dismantle the lab Tuesday.

McCausland said evidence of meth manufacturing was found inside a trash can at the residence and the garbage was taken to Buxton’s Public Works facility for examination.

Agents are expected to resume searching the house later in the day.
