BANGOR, Maine — For “Star Wars” aficionados, Thursday’s preview showings of Episode 7, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” couldn’t come fast enough.
With lightsabers adorning their Facebook profile pictures and pre-sale tickets in hand, they descended on theaters throughout Maine on Thursday night to see what happened after the original trilogy — a long-awaited cinematic answer to a question many have harbored since “Return of the Jedi” premiered on May 25, 1983.
At the Bangor Mall Cinemas, fans watching the movie Thursday also got to see what has been dubbed a “Galactic Gathering.” Organized by Bangor artist and photographer Jodi Renshaw, along with Bangor Mall Cinemas, it will include area book, clothing and toy stores, gaming clubs, conventions and local artists in a sort-of mini Comic-Con in a four-day celebration.
