BANGOR, Maine — Police arrested two adults and a juvenile suspected of going through mailboxes and taking packages from porches of homes in the area of 16th Street Thursday afternoon.
Charged in the alleged Christmas Eve thefts were Nick Wilson and Marcus Mello, both 18 and from Portland, according to Bangor police. The 17-year-old male, who was not named because he is a juvenile, has addresses in both Portland and Boston. The juvenile had an active arrest warrant out on him.
A witness reported the three men were going through mailboxes at approximately 12:30 p.m., according to police. A short time later Detective Joel Nadeau located the three fitting the description near Kineo and 14th streets. Nadeau observed the men accessing mailboxes and packages on porches. He approached the men, who fled toward Ohio Street.
Bangor patrol officers saturated the neighborhood and took the three into custody a short time later.
The adults were charged with theft and refusal to submit to arrest. Wilson was also charged with possession of Schedule W drugs. The investigation is continuing.
