FRYEBURG, Maine — A man was hospitalized after a fire and an explosion inside a garage in Fryeburg.
Two people were inside the garage Sunday night when the fire broke out, according to Fryeburg fire Chief Ozzie Sheaff. One person was treated and released by paramedics at the scene.
“When we arrived on scene the garage was fully involved. It is detached from the house so it didn’t go into the house. At that moment, they were transferring fuel from one tank to another,” Sheaff said.
Sheaff said the steel garage was completely leveled. Firefighters were able to put the fire out in about 30 minutes but had to bring in an extractor to remove debris and extinguish the remaining hot spots.
