AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta woman is accused of squeezing her 6-month-old child so tightly the baby’s head started to turn red and pink.
Alex Littlefield is charged with assault.
Investigators say Littlefield was at DHHS in Augusta, because the state wanted to take custody of the baby and place her with her grandmother.
That’s when officials say Littlefield clutched the baby and squeezed the child’s forehead.
Two officers reportedly had to pry Littlefield’s arms off the girl, who was then taken by a state worker.
Littlefield was evaluated at a hospital and then booked at the Kennebec County Jail.
