This video from Northeast Historic Film has it all: skating, ice sailing, some kind of giant bouncy ball game, and the ole’ “watch a guy in a big fur coat fall down repeatedly” game. Classic.
The film archival organization shared the 1928 footage on its YouTube channel.
“A lot of people think that there’s nothing to do here in the winter, but this is different,” the narrator says. “Notice the push sleds, the ice boat, the hockey sticks — all the things you would need for a good afternoon on the lake.”
