FARMINGTON, Maine — A woman is dead after police say an intoxicated driver hit her and took off early New Year’s morning.
Police said they were called to Wilton Road near Franklin Memorial Hospital about 1:40 a.m. for a report of a woman who was struck by a vehicle. Witnesses told officers that the driver took off, and police said that they were able to track him down at a nearby hotel.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Tommy Clark and charged him with aggravated operating under the influence. Police said that additional charges could be coming.
Clark is being held at Franklin County Jail. His bail is set at $75,000 cash.
On Friday, police said they were trying to identify the victim, who they say is between 25 and 35 years old.
Witnesses to the accident are asked to call police.
