PORTLAND, Maine — A York County couple were sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court for their roles in an oxycodone distribution ring in southern Maine from June 2013 to mid-December 2014.
Taysha Gillis, 18, of North Berwick was sentenced to 2½ years in federal prison, according to information available on the court’s electronic case filing system. She agreed to forfeit $1,528 in cash found in her possession when she was arrested last year.
Kenneth Gerrish, 24, of Alfred was sentenced to two years in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge George Singal also sentenced both defendants to three years of supervised release.
Gillis and Gerrish, who are described as boyfriend and girlfriend in court documents, waived indictment in June and pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone. By pleading guilty, they admitted they obtained the drug from a supplier, kept some for personal use and sold the rest.
Information about how many pills the couple bought and sold was not available in court documents.
Their supplier, Damien Corbett, 40, of New Rochelle, New York, was convicted by a jury on Dec. 17 on the same charge in federal court in Portland, according to information in the court’s electronic case filing system. He is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
Gerrish and Gillis testified against Corbett at his trial.
Corbett began supplying Gillis with oxycodone pills when she was 13 and met him online, according to court documents.
All three defendants faced the same maximum sentences: 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
