Three people were arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the distribution of heroin in Knox, Lincoln and Kennebec counties, according to authorities.

Arrested were James Millay, 42, of Thomaston, Jody Daniello, 35, of Thomaston and Donna Johnson, 42, of China, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials have been investigating the alleged drug activity over the past month, and the inquiry revealed Millay and Daniello would travel from Thomaston to China weekly to buy heroin from Johnson and others, McCausland said.

Millay and Daniello would subsequently resell the drugs throughout Knox and Lincoln counties.

On Tuesday night, a traffic stop was conducted on Millay and Daniello’s vehicle on Route 17 in Jefferson, and 20 grams of heroin were found in the vehicle, McCausland said. Both were arrested and taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Later, Johnson’s home was searched and 39 grams of heroin, a loaded handgun and $5,000 in alleged drug transactions were found, McCausland said. She was subsequently arrested and brought to jail. The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is $18,000.

Millay is accused of aggravated heroin trafficking, Daniello of heroin trafficking and Johnson conspiracy to heroin trafficking.

Bail for the trio was set at $10,000.
