DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — Two pedestrians were transported to the hospital for complaints of injury after being struck by a vehicle in Damariscotta Friday evening, Jan. 8.

Bernadette Gerhard, 62, was operating her 2014 Toyota Highlander northeast on Biscay Road, according to Damariscotta Police Officer Kyle Sylvester.

Gerhard was traveling near Hagar Enterprises Inc. when she struck two individuals attempting to cross the street, Sylvester said.

Sylvester said both individuals were wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident.

The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service transported the individuals to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus for complaints of injury, Sylvester said. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

Sylvester said he does not believe speed or alcohol played a role in the accident and no charges are expected.

The Damariscotta Fire Department assisted with traffic control at the scene.
