OLD TOWN, Maine — A Poplar Street man suffered serious leg injuries early Wednesday evening in a snowblower accident, an Old Town Fire Department official confirmed Wednesday evening.
The injured man’s name was not immediately released. He is believed to be in his 40s, Old Town Fire Capt. Mike Hildreth said Wednesday night.
Hildreth said the man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Although the incident initially was reported as a possible amputation, Hildreth said that the man’s leg might be saved.
“We don’t yet know the extent of injuries,” Hildreth said.
It was not immediately clear how the injuries occurred, Hildreth said.
“We don’t know if it was a slip and fall or something else,” Hildreth said.
The accident remained under investigation Wednesday night.
