WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville woman and her teenage daughter face assault charges after allegedly attacking police officers who were serving a summons for underage drinking Friday night.
Sherrie Martins, 37, and her 16-year-old daughter were arrested on charges of assault, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and obstructing government administration, according to Waterville police Sgt. Lincoln Ryder.
Police went at Martins’ Gold Street apartment around 10:30 p.m. Friday to serve a summons for underage drinking after receiving a report about three intoxicated teenagers. All three were issued summons and released to their parents.
Ryder said Martins, who was intoxicated, was uncooperative as police tried to serve the summons. Martins allegedly tried to block one officer and hit the officer on the back of the head. Another officer who tried to help was allegedly grabbed by the throat and kicked by Martins, according to police.
Police used pepper spray to subdue Martins.
When officers placed Martins under arrested, her daughter punched an officer in the face, and she was arrested.
