OWLS HEAD, Maine — One passenger was taken to the hospital following a crash Sunday morning which resulted in a Jeep rolling onto its side.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Danee Barra, 39, of Thomaston was driving her 2009 Jeep Wrangler on Wiley Lane when she attempted to stop at the intersection of Route 73 but could not due to a slick roadway, according to Knox County Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

The Jeep slid into the path of a 2011 Chevy 1500 pickup truck driven by Michael Starrett, 57, of Warren, who was heading south on Route 73 and was unable to avoid the collision, Carroll said.

Barra’s Jeep rolled on its side, but she and her passenger were not injured, according to the chief deputy. Starrett also was not injured, but his passenger complained of neck pain and she was taken by ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. The name of the injured passenger was not immediately available.

Members of the Rockland and Owls Head fire departments and Rockland’s Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash.
