WOODLAND, Maine — A logging road in Woodland was closed for cleanup Friday after a Mapleton man lost control of his tractor-trailer truck and spilled the load of logs he was hauling.
Dustin Belanger, 21, was operating a 2013 Freightliner on the roadway when he apparently lost control of the rig while reaching underneath the passenger seat to adjust his CB radio, Maine State Police Sgt. Joshua Haines said in a written statement issued Friday afternoon.
As Belanger lost control at about 11:45 a.m., the rig careened off Davis Road into a ditch and the truck rolled over, spilling logs all over the road, Haines reported.
The sergeant said the road had to be shut down for part of the afternoon to remove the logs.
Belanger was not injured in the crash but was summoned for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Nicholas Casavant and Trooper Recruit Patrick Pescitelli.
