LINCOLN, Maine — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a car involved in a hit-and-run on Penobscot Valley Avenue on Saturday that injured a 19-year-old local man.
Investigators suspect that a 1997 to 2002 Saturn sedan struck the pedestrian as he walked southeast from the Bank of Maine on West Broadway toward Penobscot Valley Hospital at about 9:50 p.m., Detective Mark Fucile, the Lincoln Police Department’s spokesman, said Monday.
The injured man reported suffering back and hip pain, and possibly a spinal injury, from the accident. Darkness at that hour of night prevented the victim from identifying the vehicle that struck him when he was about 100 feet from the bank, Fucile said.
Investigators found a passenger-side rear-view mirror and other car parts at the scene that they suspect came off when the collision occurred, Fucile said.
Workers at a local car dealership told Fucile on Monday that serial numbers on the mirror indicate that it came from a Saturn. Police ask that anyone with information about the accident call them at 794-2221. All calls will be kept confidential, Fucile said.
