GORHAM, Maine — A house fire in Gorham left a man dead Sunday evening.

Barry Dunlap, 56, died in the blaze that tore through his Bear Run Road home, according to Gorham fire Chief Robert Lefebvre. A neighbor reported the fire around 7 p.m. Sunday.

When crews arrived, the house was surrounded with flames but they were able to get inside to look for Dunlap, Lefebvre said. By the time the crew found him, Dunlap had died.

Dunlap was the only person living in the home.

The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze to determine its cause.
