HARTLAND, Maine — Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an alleged hit-and-run that may have occurred Tuesday afternoon on Main Street, according to Chief Deputy James Ross.
Ross said the victim gave police information regarding the vehicle that hit him and a location, but upon review of surveillance footage from a local business neither the victim nor vehicle was observed.
The chief deputy said police are “casting doubt that this had actually occurred” based on the surveillance footage.
The incident remains under investigation.
