BANGOR, Maine — A 24-year-old Massachusetts woman arrested in September on federal drug charges pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court.
Tawana “T” Smith, also known as “T” or “Tawana Greene,” of Springfield, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing crack cocaine, and was released pending sentencing.
Smith faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine and three years to life on supervised release for each count.
Smith was arrested Sept. 3, 2015, along with four Bangor men, and charged with selling drugs to confidential informants between September 2014 and July 2015, according to documents filed in federal court. She was charged with selling crack cocaine to confidential informants working with police at Bangor area hotels on July 8, 2015, and July 5, 2015.
Smith was set for trial in early February, but on Friday she changed her plea to guilty, according to documents. She will be sentenced after completion of a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
