NEW LONDON, New Hampshire — Trevon Butler piled up 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four steals to spark Husson University to an 88-77 North Atlantic Conference men’s basketball victory over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday.

Raheem Anderson connected for 25 points and Justin Martin provided 10 points and six rebounds for Husson University of bangor (14-4, 11-1 NAC).

Peter Donato paced Colby-Sawyer (12-6, 8-4 NAC) with 21 points and nate Cook netted 16, while Milani Hicks (9 rebounds) and Wol Majong chipped in with 13 points each.

NEC 85, MMA 74

At Henniker, New Hampshire, Jakhalil Smith headed a list of six double-figure scorers with 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds on Saturday, leading the Pilgrims to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Mariners.

Dezron Wilson tossed in 16 points, Jake Vickery tallied 15 and Tyron Jackson popped in 11 for New England College (6-13, 3-9 NAC), while Frantzy Georges and Shannon Murray added 10 each.

Brendan Newcomb and Tyler Thayer led the way for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (3-15, 2-9 NAC) with 27 and 26 points, respectively.

Johnson St. 66, UMF 64

At Johnson, Vermont, Demetrius Slade made a layup with less than a second remaining on Saturday, lifting the Badgers to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Beavers.

Asim Khan sparked Johnson State (6-13, 6-6 NAC) with 25 points and Benjamin Holl provided 11 points and five assists. The Badgers trailed by 17 points at halftime, but outscored the University of Maine-Farmington (2-15, 2-9 NAC) 47-28 in the second half.

Eric Berry connected for 27 points to power the Beavers and Nick Hilton logged a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

UMPI 73, CMCC 57

At Presque Isle on Saturday, the UMaine-Presque Isle Owls hit 73 percent of their free throws (24 of 33) to hold off Central Maine Community College of Auburn.

Kevin Collins sparked the Owls (11-9) with 16 points and Brandon McGill added 14. Before the game, UMPI honored its lone senior, Chase Vicaire. He recently reached the 1,000-point career scoring milestone and finished Saturday with seven points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Carrington Miller had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead CMCC (16-7).

Thomas 80, Lyndon St. 71

At Lyndonville, Vermont, the 21-point effort of Levi Barnes helped the Terriers earn a North Atlantic Conference victory on Saturday.

Carlos Gonzalez posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Thomas College of Waterville (7-10, 5-6 NAC) and Mike Akanji also accomplished the feat with 13 points and 12 boards. Tyheem Simon added 12 points.

Shaun Hill led Lyndon State (10-8, 6-5 NAC) with a game-high 24 points and Kevin Love provided 16 points while Corey Frost added 10.

Women’s Basketball

Husson 77, Colby-Sawyer 54

At New London, New Hampshire, Rebecca Young’s 24-point performance on Saturday helped the Eagles bounce back from their first North Atlantic Conference loss of the season.

Kenzie Worcester posted 15 points, six assists, four steals, four rebounds and a blocked shot for Husson (13-5, 11-1 NAC) and Victoria McIntyre added nine points.

Lexi Iannone led Colby-Sawyer (10-8, 7-5 NAC) with 19 points and eight rebounds and Kristin Ellis provided 11 points and nine rebounds.

MMA 56, NEC 45

At Henniker, New Hampshire, the Mariners held the Pilgrims to 23 percent shooting on Saturday to post the North Atlantic Conference victory.

Alayne Felix spearheaded the effort for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (11-7, 7-4 NAC) with 24 points and six rebounds. Tess Clark and Megan McLean added eight and seven points, respectively.

Tiffany Davis was the high scorer for New England College (12-7, 6-6 NAC) with 15 points and completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.

Johnson St. 70, UMF 57

At Johnson, Vermont, Allyson Bruckner scored 10 of her team’s 23 fourth-quarter points on Saturday to help the Badgers hold off the Beavers for a North Atlantic Conference win.

Bruckner finished with 19 points and six rebounds to lead Johnson State (9-10, 6-6 NAC). Domonique Carter-Stanley tossed in 17 points and Ashley Goddard contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Meghan Smith paced the University of Maine-Farmington (10-8, 8-3 NAC) with 19 points, while Kelly Pomerleau and Cheyenne Malloy posted 11 points each.

CMCC 90, UMPI 40

At Presque Isle on Saturday, Central Maine Community College jumped out to a 52-17 first-half lead en route to the win.

Seve Deery-Deraps scored 19 points to lead CMCC (16-7) of Auburn. Nicole Hamblin chipped in with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Allie Ablondi also had 13 points and Alex Rowe added 12.

Brianna Losee paced UMPI (3-18) with 11 points. Before the game, UMPI honored seniors Katie Patenaude and Amanda Allen.

Lyndon St. 53, Thomas 36

At Lyndonville, Vermont, Mikayla Hodge connected for 23 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to power the Hornets to a NAC victory over the Terriers on Saturday.

Lyndon State improved to 3-14, 2-9 in conference play.

Katie McAllister led the way for Thomas College of Waterville (2-16, 1-10 NAC) with 10 points, while Tess McClenahan and Ashleigh Gagne provided nine and eight points, respectively.

Women’s Hockey

Maine, Providence split

At Providence, Rhode Island, the Black Bears scored three unanswered second-period goals to earn a 3-1 Hockey East victory over the Friars on Saturday, but the Friars gained a 1-0 victory on Sunday.

On Saturday, Morgan Sakundiak scored the go-ahead goal on the power play with assists from Kelsey MacSorley and Catherine Tufts for UMaine (8-19-2, 4-15-1 HE).

Audra Richards tallied the tying goal off a Mikayla Rogers assist and Alyson Matteau added a power-play goal on an assist from Tufts with 40 seconds to play in the second period.

Meghann Treacy made 24 saves for the winners.

Cassidy Carels’ unassisted goal had staked Providence (9-18-1, 5-12-1 HE) to a 1-0 lead with nine seconds left in the first period. Madison Myers came up with 21 saves.

On Sunday, Carels’ goal at 17:20 gave the Friars the winning edge and Myers went on to finish with 20 saves.

Treacy had 23 saves for Maine.
