AUGUSTA, Maine — A crash on Route 104 slowed commuter traffic Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The crash involved a box truck striking a utility pole on the road known locally as West River Road, Augusta Deputy Chief Jared Mills said. The crash occurred shortly after 8:00 Wednesday morning.

The impact caused live wires to come down across the road, according to Mills, and no injuries were reported.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said state troopers were assisting Augusta police with traffic control, and the road was shut down around the crash scene while officials cleaned up debris.

The road was expected to remain blocked throughout the morning, according to Mills.
