HAMLIN – Wayne J. Martin, 51, died peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Caribou with his loving family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 30, 1964 in Van Buren, a son of the late Rudolph and Jeannine (Madore) Martin.
Wayne was a self-employed carpenter and contractor for over 25 years. In addition to assisting Valley residents with their home improvements, he also volunteered his abilities with St. Joseph Church, Hamlin, Knights of Columbus, Van Buren and Father David Cote’s Bible Camp. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, Van Buren, an active parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Hamlin, and a member of Van Buren Pinerunners ATV Club. Wayne was an avid NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed riding four-wheeler with his wife and children as well as working around the house with his John Deere tractor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and proudly instilled his values in his children.
He is survived by: his wife of 31 years, Denise (Parent) Martin of Hamlin; two children, Anthony “Tony” Martin and his wife Tosha of Van Buren and Amber Martin of Clearwater, FL; three grandchildren, Blake, Zachary and Isaac; three brothers, Clayton Martin of Van Buren, Rudy Martin and his wife Nancy of Caswell and Elden Martin of Bridgton; three sisters, Sandra Martin of Van Buren, Diane Caron and her husband Richard of Grand Falls, NB, Canada and Denise Cormier of Van Buren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Wayne is predeceased by a brother, Dale Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at St. Joseph Church, Hamlin. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday 6-8:00 PM and Saturday morning 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Hamlin. Spring interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hamlin.
