AUGUSTA, Maine — An emailed bomb threat to city schools canceled classes for the day on Friday, according to Augusta police.
Augusta Deputy Police Chief Jared Mills said Friday afternoon officers from multiple agencies searched all schools for five hours and no harmful devices or substances were discovered.
Bangor and Portland police canine units, along with state police, aided Augusta police, Mills said.
The deputy chief said the threat was communicated via email before classes started for the day.
Mills said authorities are working to determine whether the threat is connected to others made at several other schools in New England on Friday morning.
Nobody has been charged, according to Mills.
