OWLS HEAD, Maine — Police apprehended a Pennsylvania couple Sunday afternoon at the Knox County Regional Airport and seized a sizable amount of heroin.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Maine Violent Crimes Task Force led by the U.S. Marshal’s Office in apprehending Scotch Hanning, 36, from Winfield, Pennsylvania, and Misty Hollenbach, 30, from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

The arrests came at 3 p.m. at the Knox County airport as Hanning and Hollenbach were renting a car, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

After the arrests, Knox Deputy John Hansen and federal marshals found approximately 115 packets of suspected heroin and approximately $520 in cash on Hanning and found a loaded hypodermic syringe and several packets of suspected heroin on Hollenbach, according to Carroll.

Both Hollenbach and Hanning were charged with illegal drug trafficking. They were taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland without incident. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency was called in to assist in this case for follow-up and continued investigation.

Carroll said the two Pennsylvania residents were wanted on felony theft charges out of that state.

The pair are scheduled to make their initial appearances Monday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.
