ROCKLAND, Maine — A Waldoboro man is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Friday on charges that he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child 10 years ago.
Jessie J. Gehrmann, 29, was arrested Wednesday by Maine State Police Detective Jason Andrews and charged with three counts of gross sexual assault and three counts of unlawful sexual contact. He is being held without bail at the Knox County Jail in Rockland until his appearance in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.
An affidavit filed in court by Andrews to obtain an arrest warrant indicates that an investigation began in October, when the mother of the victim, now 15 years old, contacted police. The mother said her daughter had begun to harm herself, and eventually the girl acknowledged she had been sexually assaulted by Gehrmann in 2006, according to the court document.
The assaults occurred at a gravel pit in Union, Andrews wrote in the affidavit, adding that he worked to verify details provided by the victim before he interviewed Gehrmann. The suspect denied he had assaulted the girl and told police the mother had a grudge against him because he previously ripped her off.
