Sophomore right-hander Molly Flowers tossed a no-hitter, striking out nine and walking four, as the University of Maine Black Bears beat the Green Bay Phoenix 6-0 to snap a four-game losing streak in softball action Monday in Clearwater, Florida.
Green Bay won the opener 11-3 in 4½ innings.
Flowers improved to 3-2 with the outing and lowered her team-leading ERA to 2.00.
Rachel Harvey had a solo homer and an RBI single for the 5-6 Black Bears.
Rachel Carlson had three singles and an RBI, and Janelle Bouchard contributed a pair of singles.
In the first game, Brennan Engel and Alyssa Johnson each drove in five runs to pace the Phoenix.
Engel tripled, doubled and singled, and Johnson belted a grand slam and had an RBI single. Allie Taylor had three base hits, and Katie Rossman hurled five innings of seven-hit, three-run ball for the win.
Alyssa Derrick homered and doubled and knocked in a pair of runs for UMaine, and Harvey singled twice.
Green Bay is 8-18.
