ROCKLAND, Maine — The city has scheduled a forum for next week to gather comments from the public about a proposed ordinance to regulate energy-generating plants.

The forum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at City Hall.

Members of the city’s planning board and Energy Committee have been meeting during the past several weeks to develop the ordinance.

The City Council imposed a six-month moratorium in January on energy plants and made it retroactive to Dec. 14, 2015. The moratorium was adopted after a majority of councilors expressed concern that current city ordinances would not adequately regulate proposed power plants. The vote was prompted by a project being considered by Rockland Energy Center.
