BREWER, Maine — A local man with a history of sex crimes has been arrested again on alleged abuse of a young girl, state police said in a news release.

Ronald Boersma, 37, was arrested at his home on Thursday afternoon, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Boersma, a convicted sex offender, is accused of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, McCausland said.

Boersma was arrested a day after his computer, which had child pornography on it, was seized from his home, McCausland said. It is unknown if images of the victim were found on the computer.

He previously was convicted of possessing child pornography in 2003.

According to BDN court listings, Boersma also was fined $500 in 2012 for failing to comply with the state’s sex offender registration act.

Boersma was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

BDN sports freelancer Ryan McLaughlin grew up in Brewer and is a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins.
