PORTLAND, Maine — A local man arrested in December 2015 on a child pornography charge is back behind bars after violating his bail, according to police.

Glenn Strout, 52, was not allowed to possess computers as part of his bail conditions after his arrest on a charge of possession of sexually explicit material of a minor under age 12, according to Portland Assistant Police Chief Vernon Malloch.

A Dec. 11 search of Strout’s home allegedly revealed images of child pornography, and his electronic devices were seized.

Strout was arrested again Thursday night after allegedly violating his bail by possessing computers. Malloch said Strout’s home was searched before his arrest.

Residents had expressed concern about Strout’s release on bail after the December arrest because it was thought he had videotaped children in the neighborhood as they played.

“Strout is not accused of any crime relating to this activity, and he has not been convicted of any crime,” Malloch said in a statement.

Strout was brought to the Cumberland County Jail.
