WISCASSET, Maine — Speed was a contributing factor to a single-vehicle rollover on West Alna Road in Wiscasset that sent three people to the hospital Thursday afternoon, March 17.
Tyler Woestman, 20, of Brunswick, Jeana Lang, 22, of Alna, and Casey Trefy, 22, were transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with minor injuries after the 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Woestman was driving flipped two times, and came to a rest on its roof, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said.
The vehicle was traveling in a southwardly direction on West Alna Road in the vicinity of the Wiscasset Speedway when it hit a soft shoulder on a curve, apparently flipped twice, and came to rest on its roof in an embankment on the north side of the road, Cline said.
Speed and wet road conditions due to rainfall were contributing factors to the accident, Cline said.
The accident was reported shortly before 4:15 p.m. The Wiscasset Fire Department, Alna Fire Department, and Wiscasset Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
The door to the passenger side of the vehicle was sawed off by the fire department, but all individuals were able to exit the vehicle on their own, Wiscasset Fire Chief T.J. Merry said.
The Wiscasset Ambulance Service transported all three individuals to Midcoast Hospital for evaluation.
The accident is under investigation, Cline said.
