BELFAST, Maine — Two local men have been arrested after the discovery of a methamphetamine lab inside a High Street residence, according to officials.
Edward Mylen, 37, and Michael Redding, 27, are both facing multiple drug charges after they were arrested Monday night, according to a statement from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Agents from the MDEA’s Midcoast task force arrested the men after raiding Redding’s residence, the statement said. About two grams of meth were located during the raid.
Due to the dangerous nature of meth manufacturing, members of the MDEA’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team were called in to seize the evidence, the statement said.
Mylen, who has a prior drug conviction, was charged with aggravated meth trafficking, a Class A crime, and unlawful operation of a meth lab, a Class B offense. Redding was charged with meth trafficking and unlawful operation of a meth lab, both Class B offenses.
The men were taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail where bail was set at $5,000. Belfast police assisted drug agents in the investigation.
