LITCHFIELD, Maine — A Litchfield man who works as a lifeguard at a YMCA pool in Brunswick was arrested Friday and charged with possession of child pornography.
Computers seized from the home of 29-year-old Ethan Francine allegedly contained sexually explicit material of children younger than 12 years old, according to a release issued Friday by Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Francine is employed as a lifeguard at the Landing Y, a branch of the Bath Area Family YMCA located in Brunswick, McCausland said.
According to an email Friday night from Sabrina Murphy, executive director of the Bath Area Family YMCA, Francine is a part-time employee who was immediately suspended indefinitely from all YMCA programs after Y officials learned of his arrest.
“At this time we are not aware of any inappropriate behavior by this individual involving any children at our YMCA,” she wrote. “The safety of our members and children are our highest concern.”
Francine posted $2,000 bail and was released on conditions that include he not possess any digital media devices that access the Internet and that he have no contact with children younger than 16 years old.
No further information was immediately available.
