OLD TOWN, Maine — Crews on Monday morning were quickly able to contain a fire at the Old Town Canoe factory, according to Old Town fire Chief Steve O’Malley.
Employees had attempted to extinguish the small fire inside a machine around 3:45 a.m. but called the fire department when they were unable to do so, O’Malley said.
The chief added the fire was contained to an oven where mold is made to make watercrafts.
The fire was contained within minutes and no damage to the building was reported, according to O’Malley.
Firefighters from Old Town, Orono, Milford and Bangor responded.
