BANGOR, Maine — Investigators believe they are close to determining what sparked a fire at a Hammond Street glass business last week.

“It’s coming slowly,” said Sgt. Scott Richardson of the state fire marshal’s office.

Richardson said Wednesday that investigators hope to have a cause determined by the end of the week.

Richardson would not discuss whether officials have ruled out whether the fire was suspicious in nature, as that is part of the investigation.

The business at 543 Hammond St. suffered severe fire damage and the blaze brought crews from five communities to the scene.
