BATH, Maine — A major road was shut down after a car plunged off an overpass in Bath.

Images from the crash showed the vehicle on its roof.

At this point, details about what happened and if there were any injuries aren’t being released, but officials were asking people to take alternate routes if possible.

They said those traveling north on Route 1 are being re-routed underneath the viaduct and back up onto the Sagadahoc Bridge.

Southbound traffic is being diverted up Washington Street in Bath.
