BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick man who allegedly stole Taquitos and an ice cream sandwich from a 7-Eleven store was arrested on charges of assault and resisting arrest following a scuffle with police early Friday morning.
Bryan D. Wilson, 24, also was charged with theft, according to Brunswick police Cmdr. Mark Waltz.
Officers went to the convenience store on Maine Street at 1:38 a.m. Friday after the alleged theft was reported. They then stopped Wilson, who matched the description of the suspect, as he walked south on Maine Street, Waltz said.
Wilson allegedly ran from police and tried to hide on Park Row, then resisted arrest, resulting in injuries that led police to take him to Mid Coast Hospital.
According to Waltz, he also kicked doors and windows in the cruiser, insulted the officers and spit in one of their faces.
Wilson was released at Mid Coast Hospital on $2,500 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on June 7.
