GORHAM, Maine — Sam Dexter stroked a double and a home run while accounting for three runs batted in on Tuesday afternoon, leading No. 18 University of Southern Maine to a 6-1 baseball victory over Husson University at USM Baseball Stadium.
Dexter, a senior from Oakland, became the Huskies’ all-time hits leader with his first-inning double. The former Messalonskee High School standout surpassed the mark of 273 held by Tyler Delorme (2000-2003).
Dexter drove in a run with his double and clubbed a two-run homer in the third among 10 hits for USM (14-5). Paul McDonough collected a double and two singles with one RBI for the winners, who have won seven straight.
Bobby Delaney (1-0) held Husson (11-10) to five hits and one run with four strikeouts and one walk through six innings. Tanner Laberge worked two hitless innings and Ryan Browner struck out two in a hitless ninth.
Alex Chapman led the Eagles, who had their four-game win streak halted, with two singles. J.T. Whitten hit an RBI single in the fifth. Starter Tommy Burns surrendered nine hits and six earned runs in 3⅓ innings.
Joe Skoczylas pitched 3⅔ innings and did not allow a hit for Husson, while Steven Hanscom contributed a scoreless ninth.

Daniel Webster 12, Husson 11
At Nashua, New Hampshire, Anthony Cotoni’s unassisted goal with 36 seconds left in the game lifted Daniel Webster by the Eagles of Bangor.
Tre Mason paced Daniel Webster (6-5) with four goals and two assists while David Downie chipped in with three goals and three assists. Cotoni finished with three goals and an assist and Russell Applegate had two goals and an assist. Curtis Larade made 13 saves.
Brandon Bosse sparked Husson (3-7) with four goals. Brett Martin contributed two goals and an assist and Chad Merrill also had two goals. Trent Sell added a goal and two assists and Brandon Corbo had two assists. Matt Martin made 17 saves.
