DENNYSVILLE, Maine — Maine State Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old boy missing since April 11.

State police Detective Chad Lindsey said an arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Dallas Preston of Dennysville for criminal trespass.

Preston allegedly attempted to break into an abandoned house the first night he was missing, Lindsey said. Investigators found the boy’s belongings under the house, he said.

Preston walked away from Washington Academy in East Machias on April 11, state police Lt. Rod Charette of Troop J said Wednesday.

“He’s done this before,” Charette said. “We’ll find this kid. There’s no doubt about it.”

Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office also are looking for the teen, said Chief Deputy Michael Crabtree.

According to Facebook posts, the family believes the boy is in the Machias area, though he could be in Ellsworth or Bangor.

He is described as about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with blue eyes and brown hair. He wears glasses.

The family is asking anyone who sees Preston or knows of his whereabouts to call the Sheriff’s Department at 255-8308.
