ROCKLAND, Maine — A Rockport man was sentenced Wednesday to four years in prison for his third drug trafficking conviction.
Justin Luszczki, 32, was sentenced in Knox County Unified Court by Justice Daniel Billings for aggravated trafficking in heroin. Luszczki was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but four years suspended. He will be on probation for four years upon his release.
According to an affidavit filed by police in court last July, police had received a call from an employee of the Cedar Crest Inn in Camden who suspected that a person in one of the rooms was dealing drugs. When Luszczki’s name was mentioned, officers determined he was on probation and subject to random searches.
When officers arrived, they stopped a vehicle leaving the inn with Luszczki in it.
Luszczki admitted that he had been selling heroin but said he was doing it only to pay for his addiction to the drug. He told police he had been using 1 gram per day. In the hotel room, police found 6.5 grams of heroin and $13,140 in cash. A woman who was in the room told officers that there had been 50 grams but that the rest had been sold or used.
Luszczki had drug convictions in 2005 and 2008, according to court records.
