PORTLAND, Maine — The Hartford Yard Goats completed a four-game sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs with a 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field in Double-A baseball action.

Making a spot start, Carlos Hernandez (W, 2-1) worked six scoreless innings and scattered three hits while striking out five and walking none. Justin Haley (L, 0-2) allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings, walking one and striking out seven.

Shane Broyles, Rayan Gonzalez, and Matt Carasiti (Save, 6) combined with one inning each of relief to complete the shutout for Hartford.

Hartford plated the game’s first run in the first inning on an RBI single by Ryan McMahon scoring Pat Valaika, who had doubled. Dillon Thomas hit a solo home run off of Haley to lead off the seventh inning and extend the lead to 2-0.

The Sea Dogs were shut out in three out of four games in the series. Hartford shut out the Sea Dogs in three out of four games in the series and allowed just one run overall. Portland has now scored just two runs over their last 44 innings of play.
