BANGOR, Maine — A local man who last year allegedly threatened a cab driver with a handgun was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.

Arthur J. Beaver, 33, of Bangor was indicted on one count each of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, terrorizing and refusing to submit to arrest.

Beaver was arrested in the early morning hours of Dec. 3, 2015, after Bangor police officers were dispatched to the One Stop convenience store on State Street after a cab driver reported he had been “threatened by a male individual brandishing a handgun,” according to a previously published report.

Police arrived to find Beaver in the parking lot, Sgt. Tim Cotton, spokesman for Bangor police, said after the incident.

“The suspect repeatedly refused to follow simple and clear commands and he was eventually physically subdued while attempting to walk away from the scene,” he said.

After subduing Beaver, police searched him and found a .40-caliber handgun. Beaver allegedly threatened to kill the officers during the arrest.
