BINGHAMTON, New York — The Binghamton Mets scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back, completing a three-game sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs with a 6-0 Eastern League win on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium.

Tyler Pill (1-2) earned his first win of the season for Binghamton (9-9), cruising through eight innings giving up just four hits and no runs while striking out four.

Ty Buttrey (0-4) lasted only 2⅔ innings and allowed four runs (one earned), taking the loss for Portland (6-15), which lost its seventh straight game overall and its eighth in a row on the road.

Former Sea Dog Derrik Gibson led off the first with a double and scored on an error by Wendell Rijo. Dominic Smith drove home the second run with a single and L.J. Mazzilli added a two-run double for the hosts.

Heri Quevedo pitched 3⅓ innings and surrendered two hits, one run, two walks and posted three strikeouts for the Sea Dogs. Williams Jerez pitched a scoreless seventh and Rob Wort allowed an unearned run in the eighth.

Portland had four hits on the night, receiving singles from Tzu-Wei Lin, Ali Solis and Jordan Weems. Rijo doubled.

The Sea Dogs are off on Thursday and open up a seven-game homestand on Friday night against the Reading Fightin Phils at Hadlock Field in Portland.
