TURNER, Maine — One man was killed and another injured Monday afternoon in a crash on Route 219, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Tibbetts, 27, of Chesterville was declared dead at the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the statement said. Tibbetts was traveling east when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a westbound pickup driven by James Wetherell, 30, of Minot.

Tibbetts was not wearing a seat belt, the statement said. Neither vehicle was carrying passengers.

Wetherell was brought to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment and later was released.

The crash remains under investigation.
