BANGOR, Maine — A local man has been arrested on a manslaughter warrant out of Hancock County, Bangor police said.

Miguel Antonio Garcia, 41, was arrested without incident at Sunny Hollow Place, according to Sgt. Tim Cotton.

Garcia had been wanted out of Hancock County stemming from an incident in Bar Harbor in September 2015, Cotton said. The warrant was issued on April 14.

“Garcia had been attempting to elude arrest by actively avoiding contact with law enforcement officers,” Cotton said.

According to BDN archives, Garcia was the driver of a box truck that struck a Buick head-on on Route 3 last fall, killing a North Carolina man and injuring his wife.

Garcia was indicted for manslaughter by a Hancock County grand jury in April. Toxicology tests from the fatal accident indicated Garcia was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

In addition to manslaughter, Garcia had also been indicted on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated criminal operating of a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

Garcia is being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
