BANGOR, Maine — Authorities are investigating a fire that damaged a home Wednesday afternoon at 83 Virginia Lane.
Bangor Assistant Fire Chief Darrell Cyr said crews were called to the residence shortly before 1 p.m., and they arrived to find smoke coming from the second floor.
“When they made entry, they knew pretty quick they had fire in the basement,” said Cyr.
Crews were able to get the blaze under control quickly, but the home is currently unlivable, Cyr said.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire but the homeowner is cooperating with investigators, Cyr said.
A cause has not been determined and the state fire marshal has been called in to investigate.
