SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A New York man faces several charges after police say he tried to rob a Scarborough bank Saturday but ran off when a teller questioned him about his robbery note.

Brian Beach, 45, walked into the People’s United Bank branch on Route 1 in Scarborough just after 12 p.m., presented a note asking for money but became nervous and ran out and drove off without any money. Police say he did not show any weapons.

About half an hour later, Old Orchard Beach police found Beach’s vehicle, and he was found and arrested for attempted robbery along with operating without a license and operating under the influence. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
