VEAZIE, Maine — Residents will fill Town Council, school committee and sewer district board posts during local elections on Tuesday, June 14.
Up for grabs are the expiring council posts now held by Robert Rice and Karen Walker. Walker is seeking another three-year term but Rice has opted not to seek re-election. Seeking Rice’s post are residents Paul Messer and Michael Reid, according to Deputy Town Clerk Julie Strout.
On the school committee side of the ballot, three residents are seeking two seats. One of those is held by Julia Hathaway, who is seeking another three-year term.
The other expiring seat was held by Gavin Batchelder, who moved out to another community, rendering him ineligible for the Veazie post. Residents Paul Dupuis and Kristen Sheranian have signed on as candidates.
Also on Election Day, Norman “Buddy” Webb is seeking another three years on the Veazie Sewer District board of trustees.
The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town office. The annual town meeting will begin at 8 p.m., as soon as the polls close, at Veazie Community School.
