A prestigious class of eight was recently announced as the third class to be inducted into the Fort Fairfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Thursday, July 14, at the school.
The class includes Clarence “Chub” Clark, Wilbur “Biff” Cyr, Timothy Doak, Devin Jewett, Kelly Koziol, Shawn Rogers, Jessie Giggey Thomson and Tony Ugone.
Clark coached the boys and girls ski teams to five state championships and nine regional titles. He also coached golf, track and field, baseball and cross country. He will be inducted posthumously.
Cyr is a 1971 graduate and star pitcher for the 1970 state Class A baseball champions. His pitching and hitting helped Fort Fairfield win the state title during his junior season. He hit over .390 his sophomore year and over .300 as a junior.
Doak is a 1986 graduate and multi-sport star athlete, earning 11 varsity letters in basketball, baseball, golf and soccer. He was a starter and key member on the 1983-84 Eastern Maine Class C basketball championship team. He was awarded the FFHS Basil Mahaney Award for Athlete of the Year.
Jewett, a 1998 graduate and a multi-sport star, played basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. She earned several Eastern Maine and All-Aroostook awards, including the McDonald’s Senior All-Star and Basil Mahaney Award. Jewett is the sixth all-time leading scorer for girls basketball with 738 career points.
Koziol, a 1989 graduate, coached her cheerleading squads to state championships in 2003, 2005 and 2006. She also coached boys soccer and boys and girls track teams, including many individual state, regional and County champions.
Rogers, a 1994 graduate and multi-sport star, pitched his team to the 1994 Class D state baseball title and received All-State first-team honors. He also played basketball and was a four-year player on the soccer team. He won the Basil Mahaney Award.
Giggey Thomson is a 1950 graduate and multi-sport athlete who participated in basketball, cross-country skiing, softball and cheering. She averaged 24 points per game in her senior year of basketball. Her coach called her one of the quickest players on the court, male or female.
Ugone, a 1978 graduate and multi-sport athlete, played baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball. He was a member of the 1976 Eastern Maine Soccer championship team and earned High School All-American honors for soccer that same year. Ugone was also a Basil Mahaney winner.
