Game notes: The Black Bears open what will be a four-game road trip with a nonconference contest against the Eagles. UMaine dropped two of three America East weekend games to Stony Brook and sits in sixth place, 9½ games behind first-place Binghamton. Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference, is seventh (last) in the Atlantic Division heading into a season-ending series at Georgia Tech that begins Thursday. The Black Bears will try to distribute the innings among a handful of pitchers as they start lining up the staff for next week’s America East tournament at Lowell, Massachusetts. The Eagles have won four in a row and eight of their last nine, topping Niagara 9-3 on Sunday. UMaine is batting only .249 as a team and has only one hitter (Casals) over .300. BC has a .261 team batting average. The Eagles pitching staff has put together a 3.59 ERA, holding opponents to a .232 batting mark.
